Full Moon in Capricorn
Jun 21, 2024The June full moon, also known as the Strawberry Moon, rises just two days after the summer solstice on 22 June 2024. This full moon symbolises the summer season and the ripening of strawberries, which contributes to the name. This year, we have the rare occurrence of two full Moons in Capricorn. Although both will be influenced by Capricorn, each will feel different due to the proximity of other planets and signs and will bring its own unique energy and potential for release. Its grounded energy gives us focus and motivation and helps us develop self-discipline. Capricorn is the vibration we draw on when creating routines, structures, and boundaries within ourselves. It lends us perspective on the ocean of feelings summoned by Cancer as well as provides a container in which to put them.
This full moon falls under the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn, which is ruled by the planet Saturn governing rules and regulations. During this time, we will be highly motivated to fulfil our professional and personal goals and be drawn to making our mark in this world. As you move through this full Moon, allow your consciousness to explore the different types of work in your life and then align and commit to whatever embodies your soul’s purpose. Your purpose is something that comes from within your soul. It is how you extend the roots of your being into the world.
Capricorn wants you to show up in the world standing firmly in your truth. It challenges you to be the same person no matter where you are, who you are with, or what situation arises. This integrity means you consistently interact with the world in a way that matches your core ideals and beliefs. There will be also a pull to cut out people, environments or activities that do not serve us anymore. On a spiritual level, this full moon is associated with the heart chakra and will usher in positivity, prosperity and growth for all.
Journal Prompts:
- Am I moving down a path that aligns with my core values?
- How can I let go of or change the things I have been thinking I “have to” do but no longer bring me joy?
- Reflect on your long-term goals and aspirations. What steps can you take during this Full Moon cycle to move closer to achieving them?
- Consider the areas of your life where you feel a need for more structure and organization. How can you implement systems and routines that will support your productivity and effectiveness?
- Reflect on your sense of responsibility and accountability. Are there areas where you could take greater ownership of your actions and decisions?
Full Moon Ritual
- Create an altar with a white candle, a piece of moonstone or selenite for the moon, and black tourmaline, onyx or obsidian for Saturn. If you want to burn incense: myrrh or patchouli for Saturn, jasmine or ylang ylang for the moon.
- Light your candle.
- Close your eyes and bring your awareness out of your head and into your body. Resting your energy at your core/centre just under your ribcage where your solar plexus is located. Breathe deeply, inhale in through the nose and exhale out through the mouth. Feel your energy, your body of light here expanding and growing with each exhale. Feel this energy go into the edges of your body.
- Now imagine, sense, this energy expanding, stretching out around you, as far as it needs to go.
- Now move the energy back in, towards you. Narrow it back, to centre at your heart space.
- Place your hands at your heart centre and give gratitude
- When you’re ready, snuff out your candle and close your ritual space.
